Souvenir - Oswaldo Ruiz

"A memory: of the pandemic, of the confinement, of the mountain. An indication of the project I have been working on for the last two years about the construction of the city and the destruction of the sierra. A limestone and its cement double, reminiscent of our alienated vision of the nature that we are. Reversal of the original saying "made in the image and likeness"; where the natural becomes a reproduction of our aspirations.

Souvenir, "coming from below", an object that brings to mind a moment or a journey, but also the "coming down" of the symbolic system, of our beliefs and our certainties."

"Un recuerdo: de la pandemia, del encierro, de la montaña. Indicio del proyecto en el que he estado trabajando los últimos dos años sobre la construcción de la ciudad y la destrucción de la sierra. Una piedra caliza y su doble de cemento, reminiscencia de nuestra visión alienada de la naturaleza que somos. Reversión del dicho original “hecho a imagen y semejanza” donde lo natural deviene en una reproducción de nuestras aspiraciones.

Souvenir, “venir de abajo”, objeto que trae a la memoria un momento o un viaje, pero también el “venir abajo” del sistema simbólico, de nuestras creencias y nuestras certezas."
